Last July Symington Family Estates hosted the annual PFV meeting in Porto. On that occasion, Dominic SYMINGTON handed over the presidency to Alessia ANTINORI.
Here is the message from the new president:
"I'm very proud to announce that I have been appointed as the new President of Premium Familiae Vini for the year 2014/2015.
Personally, it was an honor eleven years ago to be the youngest President ever in the group, and again it's an honor today.
Sadly the year started with a huge loss: our dearest member and friend of PFV, Philippine de Rothschild, left us leaving a great emptiness in the wine world and in our hearts.
We will always remember her great commitment to PFV, continuously reminding us how unique our group was, belonging to the old world, sharing the same values and, most important, being all of us good friends who respect each other.
This is a concept that in all the years of my involvement with PFV I have always shared: common philosophy in producing wines that respect the territory and the same "obsession” for quality, working together and exchanging experiences, ideas and opinions.
The term Familiae is essential in the organization: in our business, the role of the family is what makes the difference; we can afford to be patient, plan for the long term and avoid any compromises convinced as we are that this is the only way our wines can continue to improve and become even more unique.
In our group we talk frequently about the best ways to guarantee a smooth transition to the next generation and how to give continuity to what has been done by our ancestors and by us. Throughout the years I have seen PFV Family children grow and become friends beyond the boundaries of languages and countries. This, I believe is the way to succeed generation after generation and to transmit the values of passion, patience, perseverance, prudence".
