PFV Gala Fundraiser in Toronto an Outstanding Success,

The Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto was host to 300 for the Primum Familiae Vini Gala Dinner and Charity Auction, October 20th. The sold out event raised over $100,000 for The Toronto Foundation for Student Success, a charitable organization which provides nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack programs for “at risk” children in the inner-city schools.

The menu, prepared by Executive Chef Eric Brennan, of Dover Sole, Grilled Quail Breast and Roasted Rack of Lamb included the PFV wines: Pol Roger 1988 Sir Winston Churchill; Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Kabinett 1997; Joseph Drouhin Beaune Clos des Mouches 1996; Antinori Guado al Tasso, Bolgheri Superiore 1996; Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 1995; Torres Mas la Plana 1995; Paul Jaboulet Ainé Hermitage “La Chapelle” 1985; Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1986; Vega-Sicilia Unico 1981; Hugel Gewurztraminer SGN 1989 and Warres Vintage Port 1977.

Wine journalist and author, Tony Aspler, was the auctioneer for the three live auction items. The lots consisted of luncheons at the estates of the PFV members including a total of five nights at the Four Seasons Hotels in Paris and Lisbon; oil paintings of each of the PFV vineyards by well-known Canadian artist and fine wine enthusiast Philip Craig; and the sought after PFV presentation case of wine containing one signed bottle of the flagship wine from each of the families which sold for 23 000$.

On October 19th in Toronto, Vintages featured a Gala Tasting of Primum Familiae Vini wines at the Royal Ontario Museum. The event for 700 was a sell out. Proceeds benefited The Toronto Foundation for Student Success.
Georg Riedel, of Riedel Crystal, designer and producer of the world’s finest crystal wineglasses generously donated over 4,000 crystal wineglasses for these spectacular events.
Passport holder Arlene Willis and husband Michael hosted a private dinner, during the recent PFV visit to Toronto. Arlene was awarded the PFV collection case of flagship wines after having toured all member estates. She is the first woman to complete the PFV passport holder tour.
Passport holder, Doug McCallum and wife Margie held a private dinner for 50 friends and PFV members at their lovely home. The dinner featured Canadian goose harvested by Doug and his sons and prepared by Chef Mark McEwen.

A press luncheon for 60 was held at the home of passport holder Sam Sarick and his wife Esther. A creative all Canadian menu was envisioned by Esther and prepared by talented Chef Jamie Kennedy to pair with a selection of PFV wines. Canadian and the US press were in attendance along with PFV passport holders Dr. Bronte Golda, Dr. Jack Gillies, Dr. David Naiberg and Barry Schwartz.
