| | THE PRIMUM FAMILIAE VINI HAS RAISED OVER 75.000 US DOLLARS FOR ASIAN CHARITIES
To mark its 10th anniversary, the Primum Familiae Vini held a series of gala dinners in Asia, hosted by the Four Seasons Hotels Group. These spectacular events took place in Bangkok (May 12), Singapore (May 14), Tokyo (May 16) and in Shanghai (May 17).
The eleven families who make up the PFV share a common aim: to achieve excellence in every aspect of their wine companies. Very fine and rare wines were tasted at each dinner. However, the opportunity was also taken to raise money for a local charity in each country. A Primum Familiae Vini collection case , containing one bottle of each member’s flagship wine, was auctioned during the gala dinners as well as other items. Due to the very considerable generosity of participants in each country, significant funds were given to the chosen charities.
In Bangkok , the auction raised 27.394 US dollars for the Somdetya charity fund. Established in 1985 by the late Princess Mother, Her Royal Highness Princess Sangwan, this fund distributes money to eleven foundations including The Princess Mother Medical Volunteer Foundation. These charities provide assistance to disadvantaged children, the handicapped and to deserving hospitals. Somdetya is literally translated as the Royal Grandmother.
In Singapore, 25,139 US dollars was raised. The funds were given to the Singapore Kidney Dialysis Foundation (KDF). This is a non-profit making organisation established six years ago by a group of Singapore doctors. KDF provides haemodialysis to needy patients who would otherwise be unable to receive this life saving treatment.
In Tokyo, 12.000 US dollars was raised for the Public Welfare of Bunkyo Ward. This charity prepares handicapped people for reintegration back into society after trauma so that they can lead a normal life.
In Shanghai, 11.500 US dollars was raised for a charity that pays for open-heart surgery on children in the city’s Hospitals. The sum raised was sufficient to allow two such operations to proceed immediately.
The members of the Primum Familiae Vini aim to defend and promote the heritage and values of family-owned wine companies, and ensure that such ideals survive and prosper for the benefit of future generations.
