| | PFV promotes wine culture in Eastern Europe with tastings of iconic family wines in Moscow and Warsaw,
| | The Primum Familiae Vini (PFV), hosted prestigious wine tastings in Moscow (April 26, 2005) and Warsaw (April 28, 2005), marking the first time the group had ever formally presented its wines together in Eastern Europe.
In each tasting, 2,800 wine glasses were used to present 22 of the PFV’s flagship wines to 40 wine journalists and more than 300 wine industry insiders. In both Moscow and Warsaw, the PFV tastings were the most selective wine events ever held in the cities.
PFV president Miguel Torres Jr. said: “Wine culture has really started to develop in some of the Eastern European countries. With this PFV event we wanted to explain the philosophy of our association, highlighting the importance of family values in winemaking.“
During the events, journalists and wine experts had the opportunity to taste some of the most famous vintages – specially selected for these tastings – from each PFV member. The selection of wines was considered one of the best ever presented in a PFV event.
The attendants had the opportunity to taste more than 85 outstanding wines. Some of the top vintages tasted were:
Champagne Pol Roger: Sir Winston Churchill 1993
Maison Joseph Drouhin: Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche 1992
Marchesi Antinori: Tignanello 1986
Miguel Torres: Mas La Plana1981
Paul Jaboulet Aîné: Hermitage "La Chapelle" 1988
Tenuta San Guido: Sassicaia 1980
Vega Sicilia: Único 1989
Château Mouton Rothschild 1986
Egon Müller-Scharzhof: Scharzhofberger Auslese 1989
Hugel & Fils : Gewurztraminer Sélection de Grains Nobles 1976
The Symington Family Port Companies: Graham's 1980
In Moscow the tasting was held at the Hotel Golden Ring and in Warsaw at the Sheraton Hotel (picture below).
