The outcome of this long tradition, backed up by an ever-watchful concern for creativity, is our comprehensive and varied range of wines. Throughout our
history the coming into being of every wine - whether white, rose, red, young or aged - has marked the perfection of a style. Fruity aromatic whites and rosés,
so tempting for friendly conversation or as an accompaniment to the finest dishes. Fine aged whites that turn a pleasant meal into a feast.
Traditional reds for the great lamb roasts in Spanish cuisine. Young reds that are a sheer delight when drunk cool, at 14ºC, at working lunches or summer
dinners. And the great vintage reds, characterised by the aristocratic tannin of Cabernet Sauvignon or by the subtle structure of Pinot Noir, which make the ideal accompaniment to formal and better served dinners.
Catalan brandies have a long tradition. The wise alchemist, Arnau de Vilanova, distilled the first brandies in the court of Pedro II, Count of Barcelona, in the
13th century. Brandies are made by distilling white wines, especially if they are very dry, with high acidity and a moderate alcohol content. The Torres
family has distilled, aged and bottled brandies of unmistakable style since 1928. The wines that we use for distillation are made from our traditional
Parellada grape variety, or those most valued internationally such as Ugni Blanc, or on a lesser scale, Folle Blanche. |
